CD009 Transmission

The Nissan CD009 transmission is a legendary six-speed manual gearbox recognized for its combination of strength, reliability, and smooth shifting performance. Originally fitted to 2005–2006 Nissan 350Z and Infiniti G35 models, it features a durable internal design and triple-cone synchronizers that help provide quick and precise gear changes. The transmission has earned a strong reputation among automotive enthusiasts for its ability to withstand high torque and demanding driving conditions when properly maintained. VARIANTS

CD000, CD003, CD005, CD008

These are the earlier versions of Nissan’s 6-speed manual transmissions, found in older 350Z and G35 models. They feature weaker synchronizers, especially on lower gears, which makes them more prone to grinding and failure under high-stress or performance conditions. Gear ratios are generally similar to later CD009 units, but durability is lower, making them less suitable for high-horsepower builds. These transmissions are ideal for stock or mild daily-driving setups rather than aggressive performance applications.

CD009

The CD009 is the upgraded 6-speed transmission introduced around 2004.5–2006 for the 350Z and G35. It features triple-cone synchronizers on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears, a reinforced aluminum case, and a rear-wheel-drive layout. Gear ratios are 3.538 (1st), 2.022 (2nd), 1.435 (3rd), 1.107 (4th), 0.921 (5th), 0.738 (6th), and 3.307 (reverse). With an input shaft of 26 mm and a 28-spline output shaft, it can handle over 1,000 WHP on stock internals. This makes it a bulletproof option for street, track, drift, or engine swap builds.

CD00A (or CD00A/CD009)

The CD00A is essentially a direct replacement and update for the CD009, maintaining the same strong internals and triple-cone synchros. It’s often sold as the current OEM part for 350Z/G35 applications, ensuring compatibility with existing CD009 setups. Specs remain the same, with reinforced gears, 6-speed ratios, RWD layout, and high torque capacity, making it suitable for high-performance builds or daily drivers requiring a reliable transmission.

JK400, JK41

The JK series represents the next generation of Nissan 6-speed manuals, used in later 370Z and G37 models. While it shares similar overall strength to the CD009/CD00A, it features updated internals, such as improved front bearings, revised clutch mechanisms, and different bellhousing designs, making it incompatible with older CD00x bellhousings without modification. Gear ratios and torque capacity are comparable, but the JK series is designed for newer engines and slightly refined performance characteristics.
