S58 Engine

High-pressure direct injection provides fuel, and a DOHC 24-valve valvetrain, with Double VANOS variable cam timing and Valvetronic variable valve lift, ensures airflow, efficiency, and performance throughout the rev range. The compression ratio of the engine is about 9.3:1, and a redline of about 7,200 rpm, generating between 473 horsepower and over 500 horsepower depending on the model, and the engine has a torque of up to 650 Nm. The S58 uses an advanced multi-stage cooling system with even more oil and engine coolers to enable the engine to perform at rage when aggressive driving and on the track, and it is one of the most developed and powerful six-cylinder engines in the BMW M.

Variant

Standard Tune: The Standard tune is S58 and is found in the base, M3, M4, and X3 M, and X4 M models. It produces about 473 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, with sufficient performance and daily all-round driveability. This variant is based on the twin-turbo inline-six design of BMW and strong internal elements and is designed to deliver power and provide rapid acceleration over a long range of RPMs.

Competition Tune: Competition S58 music is used to accelerate Competition models of M3, M4, X3 M, and X4 M, where output is boosted to about 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, which have improved turbocharging, cooling, and tuning. This version is aimed at those drivers that want stiffer throttle reaction, improved mid-range power, and better performance when driving at a spirited pace on the road and on the track.

CS/CSL Tune: CS/CSL S58 melody is used in special high-performance models including the M3 CS and M4 CSL. It has an approximate horsepower of 543 that gives it extreme performance on the track.
