It is the most widely used version of the engine, found in vehicles like the Nissan Altima (2002–2018), Nissan Sentra, and Nissan Rogue. This variant is a truck-focused variant designed specifically for the Nissan Frontier (2005 onward). Unlike the passenger-car versions, this tuning prioritizes low-RPM torque (around 171–173 lb-ft) over peak horsepower, making it better suited for hauling, towing, and off-road or utility use. The power delivery is optimized for load-carrying capability rather than high-speed performance.

PZEV QR25DE (around 170 hp)

This variant is a Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle version developed to meet stricter emissions standards, especially for California-market vehicles like the Nissan Altima. While its output is slightly reduced compared to some standard versions, it is tuned to produce lower emissions without significantly compromising drivability. This variant emphasizes environmental compliance while still maintaining the core characteristics of the QR25DE engine family.
