The Ford E4OD Transmission is a legendary 4-speed automatic heavy-duty transmission that marked a new epoch in towing power of Ford trucks between 1989 and 1998. Being the first all-electronic transmission Ford designed the transmission to replace the tough C6 by keeping its strong internal integrity, but including an important 0.71:1 overdrive gear, thus, greatly enhancing the highway fuel economy and decreasing engine load. The E4OD was designed to fit the longitudinal rear-wheel-drive and 4WD platforms of the F-Series (F-150 to F-350), Ford Bronco, and E-Series vans, and matched obviously well with such engines as the 7.3L Power Stroke diesel and the 460 Big Block V8.
It’s huge aluminum casing and advanced electronic shift solenoids that will provide an accurate timing of the shifts and stock torque of about 450 lb-ft.
