In full-size Thunderbird models (1972–1976), the 460 was typically rated around 212–365 horsepower depending on year and compression era (gross vs. net ratings), producing up to 485 lb-ft of torque (early gross figures). Paired mainly with the C6 3-speed automatic, it delivered smooth, high-torque performance suited to luxury cruising with strong acceleration for a large personal luxury coupe.

Ford Galaxie 500

The Ford Galaxie 500 offered a range of powerful V8 engines throughout its production, including the 390, 427, and 428 FE-series engines in the 1960s. In its later years, particularly the early 1970s as the Galaxie line transitioned into the LTD the 460 cubic inch (7.5L) 385-series big block became available on Ford’s full-size platform.
