The Honda K24 engine is a 2.4L (2,354 cc) inline-four engine developed by Honda Motor Co., Ltd. as part of its K-series lineup, engineered to balance everyday drivability with strong performance potential. Featuring an aluminum open-deck block with cast-in iron cylinder liners and an aluminum DOHC cylinder head, the K24 incorporates i-VTEC (intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) to optimize valve timing for both efficiency and power across the rev range. Its undersquare-to-long-stroke design (87 mm bore × 99 mm stroke) increases piston speed and enhances low- and mid-range torque compared to the smaller 2.0L K20, making it especially responsive in street applications.

The engine also features a timing chain instead of a belt for longevity, a robust bottom end capable of handling significant power increases, and a high-flow cylinder head design that responds well to modifications. K24Z2 & K24Z4 (2008–2012)

The K24Z2 and K24Z4 are SOHC i-VTEC 2.4L variants used in the Honda Accord, designed for smooth power delivery and everyday reliability. Featuring electronic throttle control, a plastic intake manifold, and a focus on mid-range torque, these engines prioritized fuel efficiency and low emissions while maintaining solid durability.

K24Z3 (2008–2012)

The K24Z3, found in the North American 8th-generation Honda Accord, offered a slightly higher-performance calibration with improved intake and exhaust flow. It retained SOHC i-VTEC but produced more horsepower than other Z variants, balancing daily drivability with a modest sportier character.

K24Z6 (2006–2012)

The K24Z6 powered the Honda CR-V and was tuned for strong low-end torque and long-term dependability. Built for SUV applications, it emphasized efficiency, smooth operation, and reliability over high-RPM performance.

K24Z7 (2012–2015)

Used in the Honda Civic Si, the K24Z7 is the most performance-oriented SOHC K24Z variant. It features a higher compression ratio, aggressive camshaft profile, improved cylinder head flow, and a sport-tuned exhaust system, making it highly popular among enthusiasts and tuners.

K24W Series (2013–2017)

The K24W series introduced Honda’s Earth Dreams technology with direct fuel injection, reduced internal friction, and improved combustion efficiency. Found in models like the Honda Accord and Honda CR-V, it delivered better fuel economy and stronger torque while meeting stricter emissions standards.
