2.5L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder (Smartstream G2.5 T-GDi)

The 2.5L Smartstream G2.5 T-GDi is a turbocharged inline-4 engine engineered for high performance and is exclusive to the Kia K5 GT. Equipped with Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection (T-GDi) technology, it delivers 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT), providing rapid gear changes, strong acceleration, and sporty driving dynamics.

1.6L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder (Smartstream G1.6 T-GDi)

The 1.6L Smartstream G1.6 T-GDi is a turbocharged inline-4 engine that powered the base and mid-level 2021–2024 Kia K5 models before the 2.5L naturally aspirated engine became standard. It generates 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft (265 Nm) of torque, utilizing Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection (T-GDi) for responsive performance and improved fuel efficiency. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and is available with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), depending on the trim.

2.0L Naturally Aspirated 4-Cylinder (Nu MPi / CVVL)

The 2.0L Nu MPi/CVVL is a naturally aspirated inline-4 gasoline engine offered in select global and Middle Eastern Kia K5/Optima models.
