The 1970–1972 LT-1 Chevrolet Generation I Small-Block is one of the most iconic V8 engines ever produced by Chevy. Known for its high-revving nature, solid-lifter camshaft, and strong performance straight from the factory, the LT-1 delivered impressive horsepower and crisp throttle response for its time. 2016–2023 LT1 Camaro SS Engine

The LT1 Camaro SS Engine brings muscular performance with high-revving power and strong durability. Producing 455 horsepower, this variant pairs with manual and automatic transmissions across SS trim levels. Known for its smooth torque band and rapid throttle engagement, it transforms daily driving while delivering track-ready acceleration. It features an OHV valvetrain with 2 valves per cylinder and advanced variable valve timing (VVT), paired with direct fuel injection for efficient, responsive power. With an 11.5:1 compression ratio and a naturally aspirated setup, the Gen V LT1 offers strong low-end torque and high combustion efficiency. Notable technologies include advanced combustion chamber design, cylinder deactivation (AFM on select models), a continuously variable oil pump, and a lightweight rotating assembly making it one of the most refined and capable small-block engines in Chevrolet’s lineup.
